Computer Recycling Services

Tulane University computers are recycled through the Property Management Office. The computers are logged out and are first made available to other Tulane offices. Computers that cannot be re-used on campus are recycled by the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council, a Baton Rouge non-profit that distributes many to schools. If you have sensitive financial, patient-records, or student-records data on your computer, please contact the Tulane Help Desk at 862-8888 to schedule someone to remove the information from the computer before it is recycled.  Electronics are a regulated waste and cannot be placed in the trash.

20 pieces or less:  Recycling pick-up service is provided free for quantities of computers less than 20 items.  Several times a month, recycling staff pick up computers from offices that have placed requests in advance through the Servicewave.  To request a pickup of computers for recycling, visit the Servicewave.Tulane.edu web site and complete a work request. In the request box write "Recycle Computers" and indicate the number and type of computers and peripherals to be picked up. Recycling staff will try to contact you in advance of your pickup. Please note that it may take several weeks for your equipment to be picked up and recycled through this free service.

More than 20 pieces:  If you have more than 20 pieces of computer equipment for recycling, it is considered a move and there is a charge for labor.  You must submit an IT to Facilities Services to schedule the pickup.
